Passive Fire Protection Specialist

Salary: Competitive, Dependent on experience

Start Date: Negotiable 

Role Description: The Passive Fire Protection Specialist is a full-time, hybrid role based in the UK. The specialist will assess building designs, specifications, and construction details to ensure compliance with passive fire protection standards and project requirements. Daily tasks include conducting site inspections, reviewing installation quality of firestopping systems, cavity barriers, fire doors, and structural protection, and preparing clear technical reports and recommendations (site based roles). Collaborating with contractors, designers, and clients to address non-compliance, recommend remedial solutions, and support the development of fire protection strategies (consultancy roles). All specialists will also stay current with relevant codes, standards, and test methodologies to inform best practice and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Experience producing Technical Assessments as well as other non-typical and adhoc passive fire protection methods

• Practical experience in fire protection engineering, specifically in the design or assessment of passive fire protection solutions for buildings.

• Experience conducting site inspections and producing technical reports or document reviews on firestopping, cavity barriers, fire doors, or structural fire protection within construction or engineering projects.

• Demonstrated expertise in fire prevention and fire safety within building and construction environments.

• Understanding of relevant national and international fire safety standards and guidance (e.g., BS, EN, Approved Document B, PFPF guidelines).

• Degree or professional qualification in fire engineering, building services, construction management, or a related discipline (e.g., IFE Level 3 in passive fire protection).

• Ability and willingness to travel throughout the UK for site-based and consultancy work.
